- On April 15, 1912, the TITANIC, a British steamship on her maiden voyage from
Southampton to New York, slowly sank in the frigid water of the North Atlantic, after
striking an iceberg.
- She was the largest, most magnificent vessel afloat and was considered by all the
experts to be UNSINKABLE.
- That is why there were only half the number of lifeboats needed to save everybody
aboard.
- By the time rescue ships arrived it was too late to save most of the passengers and
crew.
